<Chapter 12> My dream was to go to the movie theater with a girl. Finally, my wish came true… WWW
Today was the weekend, so I hung out with a friend.
It was super fun.
The end.
…If only life could be this simple, huh?
“Why’s there not a single person in here?”
Yujin, who had brought extra-large popcorn, was genuinely baffled.
To be honest, it felt a bit off from the start.
Everything was fine up until the entrance of the cinema.
The savory popcorn smell tickling my nose.
A weirdly sleep-inducing, just-right dim atmosphere.
I worried if this world’s theaters might be different, but…
Surprisingly, it was a pretty normal theater.
That thought shattered before I even took a few steps.
I truly started thinking something was wrong once we entered the screening room.
There wasn’t a single customer inside.
“Maybe this movie’s unpopular?”
I checked, worried, but it was definitely the right movie.
This romance flick, “Clementine,” was getting massive hype as the top film of the first half of the year.
Apparently, it’s such a grand masterpiece that it’s expected to hit tens of millions in viewership and has glowing reviews.
-This is not a 1-star review, it’s an 11-star one!
-The monitors cried, external hard drives cried, and even viruses hiding in the shadows cried.
-If you haven’t seen this movie, you still have one reason to keep living.
-The film industry has BC and AC now: Before Clementine, After Clementine…
Just reading the reviews, praise poured out like a waterfall!
So without any hesitation, I booked tickets.
“Why would a movie like this have no people on a weekend? Is someone secretly filming a hidden camera prank or something?”
Is this what a movie theater is usually like?
I don’t really know since I’ve never been here before.
It’s not exactly a place A-class folks like me visit often.
Anyway, I sat down according to the seat number on the ticket.
And Yujin was shocked again.
“…Is this the right spot?”
“Huh, uh…yeah, it’s correct.”
Unlike what we usually see, the seats were stuck together.
A passionate red color with a strangely heart-shaped design.
The size was kind of awkward.
It’s wide enough for one person but feels a little cramped for two?
Still, compared to regular seats, it looks way more comfortable.
“Could this be the legendary VIP seat I’ve only heard about?”
Mr. Park said he’d take care of everything.
Looks like he managed to secure a pretty good spot.
Even gold spoons have their perks, huh?
“Ho ho, so this is how modern VIP seats are these days. My knowledge expands once again.”
Honestly, with how spacious the seats are, you could probably sit anywhere without issue.
But it’s better to sit in your assigned seat, right?
It’d be inconvenient if the actual seat owner showed up late.
Yujin sat down on the inside first.
Consideration for women! Let them sit closer to the bathroom.
This is apparently important for today’s trendy socialites.
“Let’s sit.”
“Huh, uh…are we really sitting here?”
“Why? Don’t you want to?”
“No, no, it’s fine…”
Young-hee carefully sat beside him.
Looking at it now, the distance between them was pretty close.
Not only could he clearly see her pale skin, but he could even feel her soft breathing.
He began to feel tense.
Well, he had been nervous ever since they first met anyway.
“Thank goodness I chose to come to the movies.”
If it had been somewhere else, his mind would’ve gone completely blank on what to say.
While eating popcorn, he tried focusing on the ads playing on the screen.
But then the ads went insane.
“What the heck is this crap?”
On the screen, an obviously obscene video played blatantly.
Whoever she was wearing clothes either to cover herself or maybe to emphasize certain parts, the woman screamed at the man to stop.
However, the man approached her with a sneer and began fondling her body.
While verbally resisting, the woman’s breathing gradually became rougher.
Then the man, satisfied, ripped her clothes off.
Once things got serious, the woman wrapped her legs around the man’s waist and turned aggressive.
“Holy cow, isn’t that supposed-to-be saint dressed oddly? And how did her chest get so big? Is this theater crazy or what?”
The situation in front of him made him feel like he was about to lose consciousness.
!…..
!…..
……
Could this be the average in this otherworld?
If so, what kind of bizarre era is this?
Yujin turned his head to look at Young-hee.
Her face was as red as if it would burst any second.
“Ahh, thank goodness. So this isn’t normal, right?”
It seems like some sort of staff mistake, whatever it may be.
No idea how an adult film could play instead of ads, but mistakes happen.
Still, understanding mistakes is one thing.
Actually confronting this weirdness? No courage for that in Yujin.
But regardless,
Awkward is awkward.
Trying to ease the tension, he summoned the inner cool vibes buried deep within and squeezed out some words.
“I’m looking forward to the upcoming event.”
“E-E-Event?!”
“Yeah.
99
I heard there’s a special event after the movie ends in this world’s theaters.
Word from the internet elders, so it must be true.
Whatever it is, I’m kinda excited.”
‘Maybe they’ll give out some prizes or maybe autographed posters?’
But Young-hee’s reaction seemed off.
She clenched her fists tightly, her shoulders trembled, and her eyes filled with moisture.
Like she was fearing something terrible about to happen.
‘This isn’t a horror movie, though.’
Thinking about it, she suggested coming to the theater without much explanation earlier.
Hmm, should’ve asked if girls even like romance films.
Still, it’s a popular movie, so it should be fine, right?
Meanwhile, the movie started.
“Wow, seriously, no one came in yet?”
Being alone in this dark, vast space with just the two of them.
Never imagined it’d turn out like this.
“Hehe, feels like we rented the whole place. Nice.”
While sipping cola, he watched the actors on the screen.
The movie’s story was definitely entertaining.
He almost cried when the male and female leads kissed.
Suddenly, Young-hee stood up from her seat.
“I-I’ll be back. Gonna use the restroom real quick.”
“Alright.
You were drinking a lot of cola, looked pretty tense.”
Alone, he munched on popcorn.
They say you get fined if you don’t finish all the popcorn in the theater.
Gotta eat fast to finish before the movie ends.
****
“Haa, what am I doing?”
Young-hee sighed while washing her hands.
She didn’t actually need to use the restroom.
She just needed an excuse to escape her seat.
Originally, she planned to plead her case to Yujin today.
To ask him not to mess with Chul-soo.
She’d do anything.
‘But he didn’t even give me time to talk and brought me to a place like this.’
She knew Yujin was targeting her as a woman.
But she never imagined he’d rent out the entire theater.
How rich does someone have to be to pull off something like this?
Plus, showing those adult videos instead of ads?
Thinking about it made her face heat up again.
‘Honestly, that was total sexual harassment.’
Dark space, two people pressed closely together, and those kinds of videos playing.
By the time she realized the vibe, it was already too late.
She even trembled, feeling completely trapped.
At least he didn’t immediately pounce.
‘But if I stayed seated any longer, he probably would’ve moved closer.’
That’s why she fled.
She’d do anything for Chul-soo.
She thought she was prepared.
But she wasn’t ready for such humiliating acts.
‘Still, I guess I should go back…’
Running away like this makes her scared of what might happen next.
The movie runs for about two hours.
The challenge is surviving that long without upsetting Yujin.
With that thought, as Young-hee exited the restroom…
-Glurp glurp
“H-Huh? A monster?!”
In front of her stood some strange creature.
A black, round shape.
An oozing liquid body wriggling around.
A slime.
The thing was already close, its body moving unpleasantly.
Something seemed off about it.
‘Wh-What is that?!’
Monsters can exist anywhere.
Monsters breaking through rifts have all sorts of features.
But this was the first time she’d seen a monster like this.
The tentacles wriggling on its body looked creepy.
A slime, but pitch-black?!
What kind of monster is this?
“Ah, ah, gotta run…!”
Young-hee’s level is at least B-tier hero material.
But that’s calculated based solely on her specialties in buffs and healing.
She lacks direct combat abilities.
As a typical support-type character, she can’t do much alone.
Without weapons, she can’t guarantee victory even against low-tier monsters.
“And there’s…no one around…”
The theater, bought by Mr. Park, had no staff.
Young-hee immediately ran toward the exit.
“Ugh! S-Stop! Get off me! Go away!”
But it was too late.
The slime quickly moved and covered Young-hee.
It stuck to her face.
“Ugh! Mmmph…!”
Held down, Young-hee struggled desperately to shake the thing off.
But it was useless.
The liquid creature simply passed through her hands.
She thought she was about to die.
‘D-D-Does it…is it entering me?!’
The slime began seeping into her ears and nose.
She could feel it invading her body.
Worse, it was swirling around in her head.
-Crk, stop resisting. You’ll enjoy it more this way.
“M-Monster talking?!”
Young-hee’s eyes widened.
Her instincts as a woman screamed a warning.
She couldn’t let this monster take over her body.
Something terrible would happen if it did.
Young-hee tried resisting with all her might.
But the slime began directly infiltrating her mind.
“H-H-Help! Stop! D-Don’t…!”
Despite her screams, the slime continued taking control of her.
Her consciousness faded, and a floating sensation spread through her body.
It was hard to maintain her sanity.
Overwhelmed by indescribable sensations, Young-hee shivered.
“J-J-Jesus… Someone help me… Chul-soo…”
Just as she was about to be completely taken over by the slime…
“Young-hee.”
A gruff voice echoed through the theater hallway.
“Is that your pet?”
Out of nowhere, Yujin appeared, sucking on a straw and casually asking.
