Chapter 62: The Arrival of Celia and Aurora
Two figures climbed up the city wall, surveying the battlefield before locking their eyes on Airael, who was also clad in a cloak.
At this moment, Airael’s magical prowess had diminished significantly; she was casting only some mid to low-level spells.
Though these spells could harm the Orcs, the damage was barely substantial.
The Orcs could completely endure the attacks with their robust physiques.
If the situation continued to develop like this, it would be quite unfavorable for the humans.
Only a few among the humans could contend with the Orc Wolf Cavalry.
Most people couldn’t even hold a candle to those fearsome beasts.
Especially the elite guards of Sko.
Even the knights struggled against them.
While Airael was doing her best to shield them, her prolonged battle had severely drained her energy.
The tenacity of these Orcs exceeded her expectations.
Or perhaps she had overestimated the capabilities of these human soldiers.
The two figures on the city wall observed everything, and one of them remarked, “The situation is really unfavorable for Your Majesty!”
With those words, their identities were revealed.
They were Celia and Aurora, who had immediately set out to train shortly after Airael’s departure.
Celia was the one who spoke.
Aurora nodded upon hearing Celia’s words.
Her expression beneath the cloak was quite solemn.
These Orcs were truly tricky.
For a warrior, an Orc’s fighter might be the last opponent they wanted to face.
Their raw strength made any encounter with them a real nightmare.
Especially when they enter that berserk state.
Though their IQ plummets, their strength gets a substantial boost.
Moreover, these Orcs were tough as nails; standard attacks that didn’t hit their vital spots barely phased them.
Aurora had grown accustomed to Celia’s silence.
Thinking about their true purpose for coming out, Celia continued, “Under these circumstances, we really should take action. Otherwise, Your Majesty is in grave danger!”
If captured by humans, they might show mercy after seeing their queen’s beauty.
But the Orcs? They didn’t care about such things.
What the Elves and humans found beautiful meant nothing to these beasts.
No matter how beautiful, they wouldn’t give it a second glance.
These ruffians cared only about food.
And to them, both humans and elves were merely food.
Aurora nodded again.
She had no objections to that.
However, just as Celia was about to charge out, Aurora reached out to hold her back.
Celia turned, asking, “Why are you stopping me? Didn’t you agree with me?”
“Are you just going to charge in there blindly?” Aurora retorted.
“What, should we just sit back and watch?” Celia countered.
At that moment, both elves felt the other was utterly hopelessly foolish.
Aurora gazed at Celia, then looked towards the Orcs, stating, “With our little arms and legs, we don’t have much of an advantage in close combat against those Orcs. Sure, we’re nimble, but in this chaotic battlefield, that agility won’t get us far—unless we’re like those two guys everyone avoids.”
As she spoke, Aurora’s gaze rested on Axi and Sko.
She lingered on Axi for a few seconds.
Celia nodded in agreement, then asked, “So what should we do?”
Aurora shifted her gaze to a discarded crossbow on the city wall.
“Have you forgotten what our Elven Race excels at?”
Celia was momentarily baffled.
But as her gaze followed Aurora’s, her eyes lit up, “Aurora, you’re so clever!”
Crossbows were indeed the Elves’ specialty.
While they were Airael’s guardian knights, mainly wielding swords and shields, they were no strangers to their family weaponry—the crossbow.
“Thanks for the compliment! Next time, I hope you can be just as clever; otherwise, it’ll be exhausting for me,” Aurora said, though she didn’t look particularly happy despite the praise.
Celia immediately felt a bit embarrassed and clung to Aurora, saying, “Aurora, don’t be so distant! We’re close partners, a perfect combo! I’ll cover what you lack, and you can cover what I can’t!”
Aurora didn’t say much more after that.
Celia was right.
They truly were great partners.
Then the two began to gather the crossbows and bolts, finding a suitable position to support Airael.
Celia gently pulled back a bowstring and immediately frowned, “This bow is seriously terrible quality!”
“Make do with it!” Aurora replied, also discontented but knowing the conditions were limited.
Celia didn’t complain further.
Even with complaints, they still needed to use it!
After familiarizing themselves with their bows alongside Aurora, they began aiming at the Orcs embroiled in chaos.
Once they locked onto their targets, they released their arrows.
The arrows sliced through the air and accurately hit the previously targeted foes.
The struck spots were the Orcs’ vulnerable areas.
One aimed for the back of the neck, the other for the forehead.
The Orcs were taken aback, their eyes widening before crashing to the ground.
In the fray, they hadn’t even noticed the deadly arrows coming their way.
And they were so precise!
Human soldiers battling the Orcs were just as astonished.
They looked around, unable to figure out who shot those two Orcs.
Eventually, they had to set aside their confusion and continue battling the other Orcs.
In the chaos, if you didn’t seek out your enemies, they would come looking for you.
With one hit delivering great results, Celia and Aurora pressed on with their attacks.
They picked suitable targets among the many Orcs.
Once they found a target, they wasted no time in sending a cold arrow flying.
Unaware of the danger, the struck Orcs fell helplessly to the ground.
One or two falls might not be a big deal; no one would pay too much attention, but as the numbers grew, someone started to notice something was amiss.
Especially among the Orcs, this development was a significant concern.
Someone was hiding and shooting arrows, and clearly, they were skilled archers.
Realizing this, the Orc officer began scanning the area, trying to locate the dastardly human lurking in the shadows.
He was also very cautious.
He knew he was likely a target for those skilled archers and would be their prime focus.
