Chapter 59: Axi is in Danger
Compared to the Orcs, the charge from the human side was not going as smoothly.
As they rushed forward, they had to halt abruptly.
“Stop, stop, stop! Halt!”
Powell, leading the charge, yelled at the sight of the frozen path ahead.
The knights and soldiers complied immediately, coming to a standstill.
Some stared in horror at the icy path and the lifelike Orc ice sculptures, gasping in shock.
That gasp? It was real cold, making those who inhaled shiver uncontrollably!
The scene was genuinely shocking to them.
Icy roads? Sure, they’d seen that before.
But this kind of situation? Most had never laid eyes on anything like it.
Powell shifted his gaze to Airael.
If he guessed correctly, all of this should be of her making.
Truly, the legendary mercenary Axi had exceptional company!
Confirming the extraordinary!
Hearing some noise behind her, Airael turned her head.
Seeing Powell and the others, her initially tense expression relaxed a bit, as she realized their reinforcements had arrived.
Though the Orc reinforcements looked formidable, as long as she and Axi weren’t fighting alone, they had a significant chance of victory.
With this thought in mind, Airael called out, “Baron, hurry and support Axi!”
She felt a bit irritated.
Couldn’t they see the urgency of the moment?
Even now, they were just standing around!
Airael’s words shook Powell from his daze.
He barked at the knights and soldiers, “Quickly assist Mr. Axi!”
It seemed he too recognized that time was of the essence.
Axi was indeed in a dire situation.
Being surrounded alone was already perilous, not to mention that a rather intimidating general was rushing to join the fray.
Axi’s predicament was about to worsen.
Although he said “hurry,” their pace didn’t pick up at all.
They had to either take a detour, climb rooftops, or carefully tread across the icy path.
In the end, Powell opted for the third method: slowly making their way over the icy road.
The icy path wasn’t long, and with caution, they could get through it; slipping and falling wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Taking a detour wasn’t worth it.
Airael watched as Powell and the others gradually approached, wanting to say something, but ultimately remained silent.
After all, she was the one who had created this icy path.
With that, Airael turned her attention back to the battlefield where Axi was facing the Orcs.
Sko’s arrival significantly motivated the Orcs.
“Make way for me!”
With a booming voice, the Orcs surrounding Axi parted, allowing Sko, riding a Riding Wolf, to charge directly toward Axi.
Axi naturally noticed this development.
He stole a glance over, locking eyes with the rushing Sko.
Sko’s face was painted with a bloodthirsty frenzy, as if about to claim his life in the next moment.
Axi’s heart sank instantly.
Sko gave him a vibe no less threatening than that of Sam before.
Axi quickly scanned his surroundings.
Orcs were closing in from all sides.
The only path left was the one Sko was barreling down.
This meant he had nowhere to evade Sko’s impending attack.
Watching this unfold from a distance, Airael’s heart couldn’t help but soar high with worry for Axi.
This was pretty much a dead end.
At the same time, she began preparing magical support for Axi.
In this battle, they all needed to give it their all.
If Axi were to fall first, the remaining fighters wouldn’t last long either.
So they couldn’t let Axi be defeated.
With Airael placing her hopes on him, Axi faced the charging Sko and swiftly made a decision.
He abandoned the surrounding Orcs and launched a counter-charge at Sko.
Compared to Sko, he looked quite small.
But the momentum radiating from him was not any weaker than Sko’s!
His face twisted into a fierce expression, and he let out a guttural roar.
“Ahhh—!”
For a moment, the surrounding Orcs didn’t dare to get close to him.
And between him and Sko, there were no Orcs foolish enough to block their path.
The Orcs didn’t dare step onto this battlefield.
Their energies were terrifying, whether from Sko or Axi.
As the distance closed to half, Sko raised his axe high.
Axi gripped his sword tightly, lifting it before him.
Then, as the two were about to cross paths for their first clash, Sko’s Riding Wolf leapt into the air, lunging at Axi.
Its sharp claws shimmered with a dangerous glint in midair.
Sko, perched atop the beast, was also poised to attack.
Facing the overwhelming assault from both the Riding Wolf and Sko, Axi raised his gaze, locking onto the duo.
His sword was held high, ready to strike at any moment.
However, Axi could only attack one target now.
Either the Riding Wolf or Sko himself.
But Axi had made up his mind.
Just as the wolf was about to land on him, Axi suddenly sped up, charging forward.
He swung his sword with all his might, aiming straight ahead.
Then came the sound of flesh tearing apart.
Axi’s blade sliced through the wolf’s belly, spilling its insides and appearing quite horrific.
In one swift move, Axi eliminated the Riding Wolf as if it were a mere afterthought!
Sko, still on his fallen mount, hadn’t even processed what had just happened.
As the wolf collapsed, Sko tumbled to the ground, momentarily dazed.
In that instant, Axi swiftly turned back, slashing his sword at Sko.
Caught off guard, Sko raised his axe to defend against Axi’s attack.
Meanwhile, his other hand reached out, trying to grab Axi’s sword.
But Axi was quick to retract his weapon, dodging the grab.
He couldn’t help but glance around.
The Orcs didn’t seem inclined to join the fight; they merely wanted to see Axi and Sko settle this one-on-one.
If it could stay that way, Axi would certainly welcome it.
That would be a huge advantage for him!
